Asus launches three TUF gaming monitors with ELMB-Sync at Computex 2019

Asus introduces three affordable TUF gaming monitors, which combine motion blur reduction with dynamic refresh rates

The Computex 2019 expo is underway in Taipei, and Taiwan-based Asus has hit the ground running with over a dozen new products. Alongside other exciting announcements – including the dual-touchscreen ZenBook Pro Duo (LINK) – the company has unveiled three new 144Hz monitors within its TUF (“The Ultimate Force”) gaming family, which promise cutting-edge display technology at an affordable price.

Three models have been announced so far, the TUF VG27AO, TUF VG27BQ and TUF VG32VO. The names suggest two 27in models and one 32in. The headline feature in these monitors is Asus’ new ELMB-Sync panel technology, which combines Asus’ ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur) motion-blur reduction tech, with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) capabilities.

Hitherto, plenty of monitors have offered one of these two features, but not both, with Asus’ own motion blur-reduction technology operating only at fixed refresh rates such as 85Hz, 100Hz or 120Hz.

Now, in Asus’ words, ELMB-Sync finally lets gamers “have their cake and eat it too”, offering dynamic refresh rates up to 144Hz in combination with dynamic backlight strobing. This gives you smooth, blur-free tracking while eliminating screen-tearing by dynamically matching the refresh rate to your game’s frame rate.

There’s no word yet on when the new TUF ELMB-Sync gaming monitor range will be available in the UK, nor is there any information about pricing. Asus promises that these new monitors will offer a revolutionary gaming experience at an affordable price, but of course we’ll have to wait until we can fully test them before passing our verdict.
