An old-fashioned grudge match over a decade in the making is now just around the corner. Former unified light-welterweight champion Amir Khan (34-5, 21 KOs) is set to face long-time adversary and ex-welterweight titleholder Kell Brook (39-3, 27 KOs) in what is set to be one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.

This will be Khan’s first appearance in the ring since July 2019 when he beat Billy Dib by technical knockout (TKO) in the fourth round. Just three months prior to that, Khan challenged Terence Crawford for the WBO welterweight title and lost in round six. Brook has fought a little more recently, in November 2020, when he lost by TKO to Crawford despite gaining a lead on the two of the judges’ scorecards. Prior to that, Brook had won his last three fights against Sergey Rabchenko, Michael Zerafa and Mark DeLuca respectively.

The storied careers of Khan and Brook are inextricably linked. The pair sparred as teenagers in preparation for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, both hoping to earn their place in Team GB. Ultimately, Khan was selected over Brook, and although Brook maintained at the time that his interests lay in professional boxing rather than Olympic fame, the two boxers have been at odds ever since.

After the Olympics, the pair’s careers diverged. Olympic fame (and later, a reality TV show) would help ‘King Khan’ secure his position as the poster boy of British Boxing after unifying the light welterweight division between 2009 and 2012. Meanwhile, Brook racked up a series of uninterrupted wins at welterweight – including one on the undercard the night Khan became world champion – before entering the pantheon of British boxing history when he became IBF welterweight champion in 2014. Like Khan, Brook held the title for three years until Errol Spence Jr. defeated him in 2017.

More recently, both fighters attempted, without success, to step out of their usual weight divisions. In 2016, Brook fought WBC, IBF and IBO champion Gennadiy Golovkin, suffering a heavy loss and severely damaged eye sockets for his trouble; meanwhile in the middleweight division, Khan saw a similar defeat at the hands of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in the same year. These ill-fated matchups (from which many feel the boxers never fully recovered) occurred just as it was looking likely that the pair would finally meet in the ring after years of verbal sparring.

Top calibre fighters in their primes, both Brook and Khan are now in the twilight stages of their careers and threatening to retire, meaning this fight could be a legacy-defining finale for either party. It may be five years too late for some, but the long-awaited arrival of Khan versus Brook – a fight affiliated with bitterness and jealousy as much as professional pride and boxing prestige – still promises to be a mouth-watering affair.

The fight card is scheduled to begin at 6pm in the UK, 1pm Eastern Time (ET) and 10 am Pacific Time (PT) on 19 February 2022 in front of a packed house of 20,000 that sold out in just ten minutes. The ring walks for Khan and Brook are expected to start at around 10 pm GMT, which is 5pm ET or 2pm PT, though these timings are subject to change. Both fighters are confident it won’t be necessary, but there is a rematch clause in place should there be a controversial victory for either side.

Khan vs Brook: Fight card

Khan and Brook aren’t the only fighters to tune in for on 19 February, as a packed undercard is on offer from the beginning of coverage at 6 pm BST.

Merseyside-born Natasha Jonas (10-1-2, 7 KOs) faces off against former world champion Chris Namus (25-6, 8 KOs) for the vacant WBO World Super-Welterweight belt. Nicknamed ‘Miss GB’, Jonas was the first female boxer to represent Great Britain at the Olympics in London 2012 and has since fought for the world title on two occasions so the 37-year-old is hoping that the third time’s the charm come Saturday night.

Another name to look out for is super-heavyweight Frazer Clarke who is set to make his professional debut after winning a Bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Now signed to Anthony Joshua’s 258 MGT management label, Clarke also won numerous other medals at European and Commonwealth championships before now turning to the pro game at 30-years-old.

How to watch Amir Khan vs Kell Brook anywhere in the world: use a good VPN service

While there are undoubtedly other ways to stream Khan vs Brook, we highly recommend Sky Sports Box Office if you’re in the UK and ESPN+ in the US to guarantee complete coverage of all the fights from the undercard through to the main event. Unfortunately, if you’re abroad, you won’t be able to access either company’s services that easily since both providers restrict access through ‘geo-blocking’ to secure their right as the exclusive broadcaster in each respective region.

We recommend everyone use a good VPN to get around this problem. Doing this will ‘fool’ your PC into thinking you’re browsing from anywhere in the world. Simply choose a country of your choice, and log in to the Sky Sports Box Office or ESPN+ to access the boxing action as it happens. Using a VPN also secures and encrypts your entire device’s connection to give you complete privacy. This means that no one – not even your ISP or your mobile service provider – can see what you do online, something they otherwise have the power to do.

Unfortunately, not all VPN services are created equal and many make tall promises that they couldn’t meet when set against our high testing standards. Thankfully, for you, we’ve selected the two best VPN services that will let you stream Khan vs Brook without a hitch. Both the services we mention below work well across devices and come with a 30-day moneyback guarantee if you’re unhappy, but we’ve also compiled a list of other alternative VPN services should you wish to try elsewhere.
